A bit unexpected!

After havin seen your sketchbook first i thought that this game would appear in a "manga" style, but freshly enough you pulled out some magic pixels and a simple game concept - et voila - a superb zombie homerun game is to be seen on newgrounds ! great job!

great job vic!

The game concept was easy but fun, as always the difficulty ingame was not too easy!
keep it up!

Yessir!

This game is incredible for a two man team in 72 hours! I have to bow down before you guys, I really enjoyed the difficulty in the game. Hopefully you guys will now that the gamejam is over and you got to know each other start blasting out bigger projects :->

Great Job !

This is one of my favourites in the gamejam ! Everything fits - the graphics, voiceacting, atmosphere - just ideal! There's no way I'm gonna complain about that this is rather short, but it was fairly easy though. Also i didn't like that the conversations hat to be initiated with the spacebar and be told forth with the mouse - being able to do everything by keyboard would have made it even better :-)
Anyway, great job team polar bear :-> now go shoot yourself in team arctic wolf's submission :-P

oh, how evil :( lol, thanks for the review :), and yes, most of problems with this was the time :S but well, i think its a great game for the time we had :)

Thanks for the review again :D

Some major Bugfixes left

Frozen screen while at the presidents office

TEHEHEHE

IM SO GLAD THAT THINGS LIKE THIS HAVE NEVER HAPPENED AND WON'T HAPPEN 4 REAL !!!

Needs Improvement

But I'm sure you knew that before i told you.

N°1 : Sound.
A retro space shooter's ambience is improved by the right sound , e.g. fast techno or DnB loops to keep my pulse high and get me the level of action i want.
Plus, its broing when i fire and the enemys explode in silence.

N°2 : Concept.
The enemys were slow and couldnt do anything but fly towards me.
I wasn't amused about that.
there should be at least 2 differnt kinds of enemys:
a) the one that tries to hit me with his body just like yours did.
it it should be faster and maybe not move in a straight line and be able to stand more than just 1 shot.
b) a shooting enemy , forcing me to time my actions and evade his shots.
N°3 : maybe a special ?
for me your game looked like a cheap replicate of the classic retro side scrolling space shooter.
if you want to make a game intersting for the crowd, there has to be something original, something unique.
starting of with new concept enemys to powerups, the world is yours !

but like this you and me won't both be happy :
I don't get doog games and you don't get a hight score :(

for future games i give you my best wishes and regards and i hope you got this message as constructive critizism and not as offense :>

ThePVAGlue responds:

I did take it as constructive criticism. I never thought about adding sound for the hamsters dying, I'm definitely adding that today. And thanks for those enemy ideas but I'm still having trouble with that one because, well....How is the hamster going to shoot? Laser eyes? I don't know I'll come up with something.

I'll really try for a special but I'm not entirely sure how to code that. If you do, and you oculd explain it to me that would be awesome, otherwise I will still try.

Thanks for your criticism!

Found a bug

When i initialised a battle with Nera she had 5 magic orbs
i decided to make her use 1 lvl 2 attack at the cost of 2 orbs
consequently she only had 3 orbs left
but then i changed my mind and reset it to a lvl 1 attack - but the orbs remained the same :/

Confused me !

i thought this is a gladiator customization, not a gladiator-outfit customization.

Although i changed the cape, it remained the same character.
how come ?
the answer is easy :
Character is not only found in the outfit, but in your body, facial expression and gesture.

"okay nonplusultra you smartass, wanna give some details >:( ?!?! "
Of course !

first of all (i apreciate you have already done that in your villain customer) you need to change the hair. special case here : the beard !!
a gladiator is mainly characterised by his beard, just like zebras by their stripes (sry for my bad english).
so if i can't change the beard i can't change the zebra (here: gladiator)
The facial expression is also important.
here the protagonist shows his angry teeth, showing he's ready to fight.
maybe someone wants his mouth cool and closed ? maybe someone wants him to roar ! it's all so easy but so significant...
also consider his gesture and pose.
the victorious gladiotor, holding his weapon above his head.
the struggling gladiator, down on his knees but his weapons ready to react.
Plus there's 1 small thing i want to add : the skin color.

you also used a lot of aspects in your other game wich i won't explain in detail here, like the effects and background (very important!)

just work a little more on the CHARACTER customization and it will be fine :>

annoying sound :/

an interesting concept for a game, that you show us here.
A lot og potential is still in this game and i hope you are going to use it.
add some more spice by letting the enemys move more randomly.
and make another sound on click.
the cheap bass kick was annoying ...

Photoshop will even make your girlfriend look good.
