Good Effort!

Amazing work, especially putting notes into 8 songs in this time was sure as hell a pain ia few things to complain about:
- on some songs you can hit multiple notes with one keystroke
- there could be some visual effect to emphasize the fact that a note has been hit (and furthermore it could indicate how well)

Let's see if your soundtrack can keep up with team whippedcream's, I'm sure Schleif dropped another bomb!

In all of them you can, and its because "you will gain more points if the note is more centered than down than if you keep pressing the arrow keys all the time"
and about the visual effect, yes we totally forgot, good idea :)

you are expecting too much of the gamers today

I just got the highscore with about 65K, it was pretty tough and I only went to the 4th knight, so please tell me how anybody is supposed to beat 10 knights in a row. I'd really like to see that.

It is insanely hard getting the black plague, but there is a catch.
When you go for that medal, avoid getting combos, they make you go too fast.

Are supersexy! Only Problem about this game is the repetitiveness, some changing background or maybe another bg track should do the trick. Keep up the good work!

This is one of my favourites in the gamejam ! Everything fits - the graphics, voiceacting, atmosphere - just ideal! There's no way I'm gonna complain about that this is rather short, but it was fairly easy though. Also i didn't like that the conversations hat to be initiated with the spacebar and be told forth with the mouse - being able to do everything by keyboard would have made it even better :-)
Anyway, great job team polar bear :-> now go shoot yourself in team arctic wolf's submission :-P

Needs Improvement

But I'm sure you knew that before i told you.

N°1 : Sound.
A retro space shooter's ambience is improved by the right sound , e.g. fast techno or DnB loops to keep my pulse high and get me the level of action i want.
Plus, its broing when i fire and the enemys explode in silence.

N°2 : Concept.
The enemys were slow and couldnt do anything but fly towards me.
I wasn't amused about that.
there should be at least 2 differnt kinds of enemys:
a) the one that tries to hit me with his body just like yours did.
it it should be faster and maybe not move in a straight line and be able to stand more than just 1 shot.
b) a shooting enemy , forcing me to time my actions and evade his shots.
N°3 : maybe a special ?
for me your game looked like a cheap replicate of the classic retro side scrolling space shooter.
if you want to make a game intersting for the crowd, there has to be something original, something unique.
starting of with new concept enemys to powerups, the world is yours !

but like this you and me won't both be happy :
I don't get doog games and you don't get a hight score :(

for future games i give you my best wishes and regards and i hope you got this message as constructive critizism and not as offense :>

I did take it as constructive criticism. I never thought about adding sound for the hamsters dying, I'm definitely adding that today. And thanks for those enemy ideas but I'm still having trouble with that one because, well....How is the hamster going to shoot? Laser eyes? I don't know I'll come up with something.

I'll really try for a special but I'm not entirely sure how to code that. If you do, and you oculd explain it to me that would be awesome, otherwise I will still try.

Dear Piggyclock ,
you put some effort into the fluent animation and the solid actionscript, the sounds fit nice and the game concept was easy to get.
but there are some things that my be improved to satisfy the player.
a) Too easy and constant.
No critical hits and misses, i could basically calculate how long i do my thing, i always did constant dmg, the enemy did charging my OD ... finished him.
if you make it constant it's not surprising and repetitive.
Fix that ASAP !
b) No strategical depht.
Although i had the choice between my common physical attack and 2 magical ones, that didn't make a lot of difference.
The fact is that it SHOULD make a difference if i choose another move, capiché ?
here are some things that could be added :
1) A defense-weakening move, dealing minor damage and reducing the enemy's armor for a certain amount of time, allowing me to inflict a lot of pain to the enemy if correctly timed.
2) A "DoT" (Damage over time) move. Be creative ! poison, ignition, parasites i don't care as long as the move is there.
This grants me a solid DMG output even if i act defensive.
3) Grant the enemy a charged move.
A move that is very powerful, smashing me away if i don't watch my back or use
4) A defense move.
like guard, evade, psionic shield, energy barrier etc.
a move that should prevent a certain amount of Dmg OR lower the received dmg for a certain amount of time OR lower the Dmg for the next attack dramatically.
5) A stun/paralysis move.
this always can save someones ass but the price is a lot of mana to pay or/and a long cooldown time.
6) A stats booster .
This boosts the char e.g he deals more physical DMG, has a better chance do do crits, a higher % to evade , more Magical Dmg/resistance etc...
7) a cure.
To remove the DoTs i have received.

and last but not least
8) maybe you could bring in cooldowns so that the whole story is harder to time.
